Basketball Greats and Arguments

See the source imageBasketball Greats, are often talked about in the current era, and in the past. Often we wonder how would a Steph Curry type would had faired in the 80’s or a Michael Jordan in this era. You hear the arguments time and time again, about who is the best in a era. Let’s face it, it is intriguing to compare players out of era’s and who are the top ten best players in Basketball history.

Basketball greats in the 60’s were just about all of the Celtics, and could you argue this; they were the dynasty back them. You had you Bill Russell, John Havlicek, Bob Cousy, Tommy Heinsohn, Tom Sanders, and Sam Jones. The league was young back then, and nobody with the exception of the Bulls have even come close to this. Bulls winning 6 Rings from the 1991 campaign through the 1998 season. Still no one has come any closer to that. Back in the 60’s, you probably had a total of 9 teams back then compared to the whopping 30 teams. “Says much when you dilute the talent like that across the board. The game of basketball was slow back then. Hell; we hadn’t even talked basketball history yet, as teams tried to outlast each other prior to the 24 second clock rule which was instituted back in the early 50’s. (another era to compare to)

You get to the 70’s, and you find yourself getting with spectacular series, when you talk about the Wilt and Jerry West years. They finally won the chip in 1971-72, the year they went on to win 33 straight. A feat that no one has come close to except the Miami Heat in 2015 went on to a 27 game win streak. Different eras, different outcomes.

Continuing on, the appreciation for great basketball players will always be there. People seem to want to mix and match them all across the board, but when it is said and done, you can only appreciate them for what they did in the past, as they will never play the current game, and vice versa, as we spec out players now, thinking they could hang in the past. Realistically, who do you think is the greatest player in basketball history, and why. Check out lestalksports.com and let us know what you think.
