This was a widely anticipated fight that everyone was looking forward to. The power punching Deontay Wilder vs. the boxing skills of Tyson Fury was one of those matches that was seen as a full fight match with the winner winning on points. This night Feb 22, 2020 was not to be; as Tyson Fury took advantage of his weight and boxing skills, as well as his going on the offensive in the ring to cut off Wilder and knock him down several times. During the 3rd round Wilder took a hit to the left side of his head around the ear section, and it appeared as though Wilder was off balance during the rest of the fight. It was as though that hit took the fight out of Wilder. Wilder was taken to the hospital after the fight, and it was believed that the injury to his ear may have affected his equilibrium during the latter part of the fight.

Stopping the fight in the 7th round when it appeared as though there was no fight left in him, and his corner throwing in the towel, just say a lot about the sport of boxing. Yes you have hard hitter, and knock out artist, but a crafty boxer can over come that with superb boxing skills. Fury definitely demonstrated this on that night. It appeared as though Wilder did his training as usual, but Fury made it a point to concentrate on this particular opponent since his last fight.

The judges for this fight had Fury winning all 7 rounds; pretty definitive of the beating Wilder took. Can we expect him to come back soon for the rematch. Will he be right the next time? Should Wilder get another trainer? Only time will tell. Subscribe to lestalksports.com
