Wear the Mask has been an ugly thing for most of us during the pandemic crisis. Let’s go back to March when things where shutting down. Hospitals were started to get bogged down, they had to send two floating army hospitals out to L.A. and New York. The deaths in New York were so bad, they had refer unit trailers to keep up the make shift morgues. Now of course the hospitals were probably not ready for this at the time, as they were caught short on equipment, supplies, ppe, ventilators; you know the stuff that keeps you alive. It was a pretty horrible time as we got into April. The states were shutting down, so that to keep the strain off of the hospitals.
Now of course you got to keep the economy going. This is very important, but at the same time your manufacturers, owners of businesses, the entity that drove that GDP, had to put in place some measures to keep their workers safe as well as themselves. We pushed forward into May, and it appeared as though the plateau had been reached due to; “stay at home orders”, or some would call mitigation against the virus. Yes; some folks had to work regardless, as they were what they called, “essential workers”. We are pushing into memorial day, and people are getting cabin fever, and want to go out and play. States want to open up and some do, but with restrictions, especially with the 6 foot social distancing, and the mask requirements.
We are now at the close of July, and cases are starting to go up again. The CDC claims that we are going backwards since memorial day. There are folks out there that just do not want to wear the mask, and they give you a host of reasons.
- If I get it, I get it.—-These folks don’t care about the consequences and may probably spread the virus with no care in the world.
- I cannot breath in the mask.–These folks shouldn’t be out in public in the first place if they cannot breath in a mask. You have 70 year old folks wearing mask with no problems.
- It’s my constitutional right to do what every I want.–This one gets me, that they want to expose themselves to some ideology, I still can’t figure out. I can think of other important things that you could talk about when it comes to constitutional rights, that they will never argue about. Most people that say that, probably never even read the constitution, but that’s another story. I heard a woman, the other day, say that this was against the law to make her wear a mask. I sure would like to know what law that was? Maybe she is right, and I could be wrong, but I won’t chance my health on it.
- I don’t know anyone that got COVid-19, this could be a hoax.–A hoax? hmmm. The trailers of bodies in New York, was probably the most telling of this story of the pandemic. Famous people getting this and dying.
- I am young and if I get it, I will survive.—-Still not worrying about the fact that if you get it, that you may pass it on to family, or better yet get hospitalized and getting a large hospital bill for the services should you survive.
I am sure just like everybody else we would love to get back to where we were before the pandemic. No, I don’t like be confined this way, No; talking and communicating through a mask, No, not being able to go out and eat and have a good time. Yes these things we can appreciate more now, since we don’t have them, but in order to get back to this we all must adhere to the science so that we can get back to that time prior to the pandemic. Regardless of your feelings now; “Wear the Mask”. We can get back from this sooner, if everyone can follow the protocols of the CDC i.e. social distancing and wearing the mask in public. Any other attempts, to try to go back to normal will just make the situation worse. Leave your opinion at lestalksports.com.
