NFL Divisional Playoffs 2020-started off pretty calm as the 49ers met up with the Vikings. There was a minute there that the Vikings looked like they were going to give a good game, but again that only lasted a minute. The 49ers who always led the game, broke it open with defense and a 13 pt scoring second half, to outlast the Vikings in this one 27-13 49er win. Both quarterbacks were average in this game and basically evened out the outcome. It was the defense that rose up for the 49ers. Look for the 49ers to continue their dominance of the NFC next week when they host the winner of the other divisional game which was the Green Bay Packers. The Packers, “packed the punch” to the Seattle Seahawks going into the locker room with a 21-3 lead. The Seahawks was able to get within 5, with a little over 9 minutes left in the 4th quarter after Marshawn Lynch ran in a 1 yarder for a touchdown. Green Bay’s last appearance in the playoff’s was back in 2016 when they lost to the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC championship game. Both Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers had a great quarterbacking game; both with no interceptions. Final Score the, “Packers 28, Seahawks 23.”.
The Kansas City Chiefs got slapped around during the 1st quarter, as the Houston Texans took advantage as the Chiefs looked like, “a dear caught in headlights”. The Texans had a 24-0 lead with over 10 minutes left before half time, and then a funny thing happened. The Chiefs went on to score 4 TD’s, 3 of them scored within a 3 1/2 minute frame to take the lead before going into the locker room at half time. 28-24. You could call this the tale of two halves, as the Chiefs went on to batter the Texans and win this game 51-31. Remembering the beginning of the game, you would have thought that the Texans had this game locked up.
Last but not least, you would had never thought that the Baltimore Ravens would loose this game against the Tennessee Titans. We talked about smacked around, and slapped around earlier in this blog. To see the Ravens get this but whipping was unbearable; considering that the Ravens were unstoppable during the last half of the season, and having the home field advantage, as well as the bye week, and the record of 14-2, you would just figured that this was a walk for the Ravens to win. That was not the case, as Lamar Jackson looked human in this game. Jackson threw 2 interceptions, and only threw for 1 touchdown, a whopping 365 yards that didn’t produce much. Oh by the way he did out rushed his own backs for 143 yards. Derrick Henry showed out though! Henry ran for 195 yds. This game showed me that stats aren’t everything, as opportunity is the key to winning. Ryan Tannehill threw for 2 touchdowns, and ran one in himself. This was the spoiler of the weekend Titans 28-12. The Ravens looked as though they were one of the teams they were beating during the regular season, and the Titans looked like the Ravens did while they were winning. So, look forward to the Titans meeting up with the Chiefs next week in the AFC Championship game. The Chiefs better figure something out for the Titans Derrick Henry, because this guy has taken The it to both the Patriots, and the Ravens in these 2020 playoffs.
