NFL 2019 Week 4- 1st Quarter Ends

NFL 2019 Week 4

NFL 2019 Week 4- It is now the end of the 3 quarter of the year, and the NFL has played it’s 1st four games of the 16 scheduled games for teams.  Some teams had the luxury of a bye, but for the most part most teams have played 4 games.

Let’s start out with my favorite team; the Eagles vs. Packers. The Eagles went into that game with a lot of injured personnel on both sides of the line, but they were able to pull this game out in Green Bay winning 34-27. While the Carson Wentz didn’t light up the throwing yardage, he was able to toss 3 touch downs and the Eagles ran the ball well; running 176 yards rushing. The Eagles looked good in this one, and maybe back on the winning snide again. We will see when the meet up with the rested N.Y. Jets next week.  NFL 2019 Week 4

Well it looks like Eli won’t be missed much in New York as the young gun Daniel Jones behind center guided his team over the lowly Washington Redskins 24-3.  Let’s face it the Redskins have quarterback problems and will not be right until they decide on who will take the helm. The Redskins will be looking to a 0-5 record next week as they meet the high flying New England Patriots who go a run for their money in Buffalo, but were able to squeak out a win 16-10 against that hard fighting defense of the Buffalo Bills.  If anything can come out of this for the Bills, they will be ready for the Patriots when they meet again in New England later in the year. The Bills had a couple of miscues on special teams and offense that cost them the game. Give kudos to that Bills defense as they held the Patriots to 16 points. The New England Patriots still continue to dominate at 4-0, you have to say they are the best at this time.

The surprise game that I thought took place was the Browns vs Ravens in which the Browns took care of business on the road in Baltimore beating the Ravens 40-25. Lamar Jackson’s 2 picks didn’t help the cause. This game evened up the records for 1st place between these 2 teams, and watch out the Pittsburg Steelers may be getting on a functional groove, and could start winning like they are supposed to. This kid Mason Rudolph is fresh and new, but since taking over the Steelers have been in games, unlike the New England debacle. Watch out for these Steelers, they won tonight 27-3 over the winless Bengals. Bengals looked bad on offense, not getting into the end zone at all. Andy Dalton spent most of the game on the ground, as the Steelers defense kept him there most of the game.

I expected the Rams to have a great game at the Coliseum, but that didn’t happen. Unbelievable that the Rams allowed 55 points scored against them, as they lost 55-40 40 against the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers opened up a 21-0 lead on the Rams and they just could not recover. Jarred Goff passed for 517 yards, but threw 3 picks. You are not going to win a game like that when you give up the ball 3 times. Jamies Winston passed for 385 yards and 4 TD’s and 1 pick. An admirable game for Winston. The key to this victory appeared to be that Coach Bruce Arians prepared well for this game as his offense seemed to be clicking on all cylinders. This was a wild scoring game. Rams can recover when they meet up with the Seattle Seahawks next week. Look for a little let down when the Buccaneers meet up with the Saints next week. This will be a duel between Sean Payton and Bruce Arians coaching styles. Speaking of the Saints; there was no way that they were going to let Dallas win in the big easy on Sunday. The final score was a low scoring affair with the Saints overcoming the Cowboys 12-10. Do you think that this may have messed up the Cowboys head losing like that. Next week the Cowboys meet the Packers in Dallas. This should be favored a Cowboy win, but you never know especially against an Aaron Rodger’s offense.

Another game that showed me that we have another contender developing in the NFC was the Chiefs vs. the Lions. The Lions started out with that tie with the Cardinals early in the season.  They went on to win against the Eagles in Philadelphia and the Chargers at home in close games. They were in this game with the Chiefs and had a late game lead until Patrick Mahomes put them to sleep with a late game charge that resulted in a rushing touchdown by Chiefs Darrel Williams.  The Lions are a tough competitor barring penalties and key football decision on the field. Should they get a sizable lead on you, you can pretty much mark a win for them. The Lions have a bye next week, and the Chiefs will meet up on Sunday night with the Colts at home. This is a rematch from the playoffs earlier this year.  The close dogs seem to show up on Sunday night, expect a tough match up for the Chiefs who are favored to win. The Colts are coming off a loss with the Oakland Raiders, which surprised me. Gruden had his boys ready for this one. Which Raider team will we see next week when they meet up with the Bears, who is also a tough team this year. No word on the return of Mitchell Tribisky who suffered a dislocated left shoulder. Meanwhile Chase Daniels should be able to handle the load as a back up.  The Bears beat the Vikings at home 16-6. These NFC north games are ground me out games.   NFL 2019 Week 4

The Seahawks recovered from that Saints loss, by beating the Arizona Cardinals 27-10. The Seahawks have a tough game next week with the Rams but at home. How about them Panthers, they went in to beat the Texans 16-10. Since the, “Cam” , has been out the Panthers have strung together 2 straight victories only trailing the Saints by a game for 1st place.

What’s wrong with the Broncos? They are now 0-4. They lost to the Jaguars in a close one 26-24. Is this what you call a hard start for the Broncos? What is wrong with the Atlanta Falcons. They have only won 1 game and that was probably because Philly put their 3rd and 4th string players on the field a few Sunday’s ago and they barely won that game.  Oh yeah, a dog night when they played Philly on Sunday night and they showed up. The Falcons lost to the Tennessee Titans 24-10.  Oh yeah, I almost forgot the game that was a given this week was the Chargers who trounced on the lowly Dolphins 30-10. The Dolphins tried to put up a fight, but that didn’t last long.

So the New England Patriots, Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers are the only undefeated left. Expect the Patriots and the Chiefs to continue their winning ways. The 49ers will be tested by a great Bear defense. Can the 49ers wake up from their bye to continue their winning ways? Next week will tell. NFL 2019 Week 4.
