Thursday Night Sports- What a night of using the PIP and the switching back between games. Congratulations go out to the Washington Wizards as they won their 1st WNBA Championship beating the Connecticut Suns 89-78. I know little about the teams in the East, but these ballers put on a show during this series. Emma Meesseman took on the MVP as she was the catalyst off the bench during the series, averaging 18pts. per game. The Mystics had more team help from their big center Ellena Della Donne. Another shout out goes to Philly area native Natasha Cloud who’s energy and enthusiasm also was a major factor in the Mystic’s team play. The Connecticut Sun has the likes of Jonquel Jones, Alyssa Thomas, Jasmine Thomas, Courtney Williams, pure ballers in their game. Look for this team to be back next year in the finals, and you may even see a rematch

Finals Recap

Thursday Night Sports offered up a little pre-view of Kwahi Leonard for the Clippers who scored 7 pts and illustrated how his play can improve the Clippers play on the court this year. He didn’t play long and initially was a no play for tonight. Doc River’s announced prior to the start of the game that he would play. The Clippers did not win this game, but had control of the game for most of the 1st half. Denver came back in the 2nd half and beat the Clippers 111-91. Doc started to unleash his bench during the 2nd half of the game to see what they are made of. The Nuggets pretty much did the same in the 4th quarter.  When the Clippers and the Nuggets meet again, it should be a real barn burner, as everyone should be healthy then. There is a lot of healthy talent on both teams.

The game that I anticipated on watching tonight was the Patriots vs. Giants game. Although the Patriots have a 6-0 record now; the Giants play these guys tough. In this case the Giants played tough until the 4th quarter. The Patriots defense was just too strong to match up. The Patriots stayed on the field and gave the Giants Defense some headaches; not to mention that the Giants turned the ball over 4 times. This in itself doesn’t help out the situation. The Patriots went on to beat the Giants in this one 35-14.  The wind was a factor in Gillette Stadium as field goals were missed, as well as passes dropped. All the same Tom Brady continues to defy the aging factor. It’s kind of like second nature with this guy as he continues to find ways to win. 10 more games to execute and this team will be looking at a bye in the 1st round, as well as home field advantage in the AFC.

Thursday Night Sports is a night where you are in a long week at work, and you need some kind of reward for getting that far into the week during the fall and winter months. It’s getting ready to gear up and you will start to see more with the NBA slated to start in a couple of weeks. Sports is great, the competition and sometimes just catching the unthinkable plays that can occur. Stop by
