Kobe Bryant- Day started off with overcast skies today where we live at in Southern California. After seeing this we got up and started on our day. Reflecting back at last night’s game in Philadelphia, Lebron James had surpassed Kobe in total scoring points to become number 3 in the history of the game. The Sixers played a great game shorthanded, and won the game. When Lebron surpassed the “Mamba”, they showed a brief picture of Lebron and Kobe shaking hands at a recent game. Between last night and this morning there wasn’t a thought in the world that would have led you to the point, that Kobe was now gone from this world this Sunday afternoon. This was a young man who had accomplished a number in things in life, and there was expectation that more would be done, before his life would end. That expectation go swallowed up this afternoon, as one of the most famous Laker, died today in a helicopter accident. I heard a scream from the other room, and thought something was wrong with this particular scream. A scream I have heard before were in conjunction with watching a sporting event. This scream was unusual this time, something was wrong. I went into the next room to see what was the matter, and wife told me that Kobe was killed. I stood there with a puzzling look on my face, as she kept saying this several times for me get a response as she seen the puzzling look on my face. She is telling me this, and it doesn’t sink in right away. I was thinking Kobe who?, there are a lot of Kobe’s in the world, and I was just trying to buy time to recognize that this was the Kobe Bryant, the Black Mamba, the guy that scored 81 points against the Raptors, the guy who won 5 rings with the Laker organization and spent all of his career with the Lakers; 20 years to be exact. This is running through my head, so I say well, let me check out my alerts on my phone. This was the first confirmation that he was gone. I turned the TV on to see if there was more on this. The TV sporting news confirmed it, and then my brother called me from back east, and this was the final instant, to except the fact that we weren’t going to be blessed with Kobe’s existence on this earth anymore. This is a sad day for the whole planet, as this guy did some remarkable things to be known world wide. Later we were to find out that his oldest daughter Gianna was in the helicopter and she too, also passed away. She also was involved with sports and on their way to a sporting event. This is definitely a crappy day! We send out our prayers to the entire Bryant family as well as the other passengers to comfort them in their loss. This Philadelphian native who went to Los Angeles and help turn the Lakers around with Shaq, will be missed sorely.
